Course Description:This course will first explore the nature of bilingualism, focusing on its neurolinguistic, psycholinguistic, and linguistic aspects. Students will examine the most important concepts and research questions in these areas. In addition, the class will focus on bilingualism in the United States and the Spanish-speaking world, including the examination of bilingual education programs (e.g., immersion programs) and important political matters connected to them.
Reflection: In this course I learned a lot about the brain and how it works when the person is bilingual.I also learned different dialects around the Hispanic world and how they are similarities and differences. How the brain works when we are little and acquiring a language. Also, how sometimes we tend to forget our first language but remember the second one. I relearned things I already knew from the linguistics course I took. In conclusion, I loved the course and the readings were interesting.
