MLO 4 Description: In addition to the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures, the student demonstrates a general knowledge of a sociocultural group other than a Hispanic one or mainstream American culture. The student develops a basic understanding of the ways of thinking (ideas, beliefs, attitudes, values, philosophies), the behavioral practices (patterns of social interactions) and the cultural products-both tangible and and intangible (for example, art, history, literature, music) - of the second culture.
Courses completed: HCOM 322
Reflection: To complete this MLO I took HCOM 322. Prior to taking this course I had no clue what course to take since we have a variety of options. I decided to take HCOM 322 because it sounded interesting to learn about the Asian American Literature. From the beginning of the semester we began by watching a movie in which took place during WWII. It was interesting to learn how the lives of the Japanese-Americans changed drastically in a matter of weeks. Furthermore, seeing and reading book about Asian, Asian-American people was interesting since I had never felt that urge to watch or read any of the works we've seen in this class.
