MLO 2 Description: Students develop their knowledge of fundamental concepts in the fields of Hispanic and Applied Linguistics, and are able to apply them in the completion of research papers and data-driven small-scale research studies pertaining current issues in these areas.

Reflection: This MLO is supported by the courses SPAN 303, 305, 345 and LING 392. This courses have helped me learn more about linguistics and the Spanish language and linguistics. All the courses have helped me develop a more knowledgeable idea of what linguistics really is and how important it is when writing, speaking and reading. Furthermore, all this courses have made me decide on what I really want to study; Speech Language Pathology. In the SPAN 303 course I learned about grammar in the Spanish language and why certain rules were made and broken. SPAN 305 I learned the professional way of speaking and using the language in a business and professional area. In the course SPAN 345 I learned everything about bilingualism as well as more in depth about linguistics in the Spanish language. Lastly, in LING 392 I learned the overall basic knowledge about linguistics. In conclusion, all these courses helped me better understand how important linguistics and has further my knowledge on what I want to continue studying which is Communicative Sciences and Disorders.
