Course Description: Develops students' critical and analytical reading ability of literature from the perspective of the Asian American experience. Grounds the discussion of Asian American experiences, literature's, and cultures in history and theory. Reflection: Prior to this course I was not well informed about any Asian literature, except for some Japanese culture. Besides that I had never seen nor read any of the films and books we saw/read in class. At the beginning of this course when I was handed the syllabus I was a bit nervous seeing we had around 7 presentations, but later on I found out it was online presentations, in which I was fond of. Furthermore, the movie that captivated me the most was Come See the Paradise and Gran Torino. Those two movies were some of the best ones we saw in this course. I liked learning about how Japanese-Americans felt during the war and after the war was over as well. How they had problems with their identity, just how some Mexican-Americans have problems with that too. Overall, this course helped me fulfill the MLO: 4, secondary knowledge. I am glad I took it with Dr. Qun Wang and doing all the presentations about the material we read or saw.
